Best Family Ensemble Costumes for Halloween

Halloween is coming up next month and it’ll creep up on you in no time! For those who were a tad “last minute” last year: if you’ve ever lined up for two hours at Spirit Halloween stores on the day-of to buy four overpriced outfits for your entire family, you know better than to never repeat that mistake again.

We’ve compiled a list of popping, kid-friendly family ensemble costumes for you to consider on October’s most frightful day. Check it out!

Recreate your childhood with a Toy Story themed family affair.

“We’re a family we stick together” Here is our third annual family Halloween costume brought to you by the movie Toy Story. We had so much fun out trick or treating for the first time with the boys. It took a little bit for Lucas to catch on to trick or treating. He stated the night off dumping our bowl of candy into his bag to take around. Once we caught up with our older neighbour boys, Lucas then ran from house to house and all my pictures are a blurry flash of him. He only went into one house which took some coaxing to get him out. He didn’t want it to end and got quite the loot. He woke up the next morning and said “ we go trick or treatin again?” Until next year! -Buzz, Woody, Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head

Turn your kids into baby dinos for a Jurassic Park foursome.

Convince your family to tackle the upside down with you in  Stranger Things looks.

How about a PG version of Game of Thrones? Three kids = three dragons!

Alternatively, you can follow the yellow brick road.

We’re off to see the wizard! Dada as Tinman, Mommy as Scarecrow & Liv the Lion 🦁😍 ⠀ ⠀ … Ok so I’ve never actually seen the movie (🙈 lol don’t come at my life!) but this was a last minute decision to dress up so we needed quick, & affordable DIY family costumes. I love how it all came together! ⠀ I’ve been going back and forth about Halloween. After learning about what the day was originally about I wasn’t sure if it’s something I should participate in. Spiritually it’s a lot of darkness & to be honest I don’t like anything scary, I can’t even watch scary movies cus it just doesn’t sit well with me. But after having Olivia, something changed for me. I gained a new perspective for the day. I heard a pastor say that Halloween is a day where people come to your door, perfect day for you to spread the light & love of Jesus. I’m SO glad we got dressed up and went to baby boo at the zoo. Seeing all the little babes in cute costumes, Olivia walking around in the oversized lion costume and Oscar & I getting to paint our faces and dress up really brought so much joy to my heart. Liv had so much fun and totally thought some of the babies were animals too because of their costumes 😂 we did everything during the day & there wasn’t a scary vibe to be found. My soul was totally at peace. The day was filled with so much love, fun and light. So grateful for these memories we get to create with our little family 💛! ⠀ I’m already excited for next year! I already know what I want us to be lol. Also, I can’t believe we’ll be a family of four 😆! ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #familycostumes #DIYcostume #wizardofoz #familymatching #halloweencostumes #babycostumes #childhoodunplugged #nothingisordinary #candidchildhood #letthekids #littleandbrave #momswithcameras #uniteinmotherhood #our_everyday_moments #simplychildren #kidsforreal

Alice in Wonderland, anyone?

If you’re thinking about something more edible, try dressing as Taco Tuesday.

I’ve been absent as of late! 😮 Two weeks ago, I went from 0cm dilated to 4cm, 70% effaced, -2 in a 9-day span (but then it stalled out). So my mom has been with us. Between that, daily walking, and wrapping up a work project before my leave, has kept me extra busy. But the good news is: I’m just two days away from induction at 39w! 🙌🏻👶🏼🎉 Which got me thinking about the tail-end of my last two pregnancies (both due at Thanksgiving) and how we’re exactly 3 months out from Halloween today, y’all! Can you believe it? So I wanted to reshare one of my absolute favorite DIY costume projects (from 2017) for those of you who are expecting late this year (or know someone who is) – which should give you plenty of time to create your own.
