Sotheby’s Auction House held it’s first-ever auction dedicated to rare sneakers this past summer with 99 of 100 shoes selling for a whopping $850,000 to a single collector. The growing number of celebrity collaborations in footwear paired with strong shift into streetwear by traditional fashion houses has inspired a new generation of sneakerheads.
In the age of social media, it’s simply not enough to have Air Jordan 11 Concords or Yeezy Boost 350s, in order to stand out as a true collector, you have to show up and show out with something one-of-a-kind.
