Homelessness is an issue not only here in the United States, but all across the world. In a recent study, it was estimated that no less than 150 million people across the globe are lacking adequate housing. Our shelter systems seem to be a little outdated and state governments seem to be at a loss on what exactly to do about this growing problem.
One company has found a pretty unique solution. Beddown is an Australian company whose goal is to take spaces that are busy during the day, but are left vacant or empty at night and repurpose them into pop-up accommodations for the homeless.
They recently launched a 2-week trial run in Brisbane with one of their parking lot partners.

Aside from clean sheets and a warm bed, they also offer things like shower facilities to give patrons a chance to clean and groom themselves before settling in for the night.
Aside from everything above, they also have onsite doctors, barbers, nurses and dentists available on site as well as fresh clothing and direction towards helpful social services.
The positive response has been overwhelming. Many have said that having a safe and secure place to sleep has kept them away from drugs and other trouble.
